My New Favourite Word: Bibulous

I was just reading an article on alcohol in the New York Times by Natalie Angier, the excellent science writer (buy her book).

She's talking about the drinking habits of Americans, and points out that "we are by no means the most bibulous people."

Bibulous

bib·u·lous [bib-yuh-luhs]
–adjective
1.fond of or addicted to drink.
2.absorbent; spongy.
What a great word eh? I had to share that.

For the record, I've used this word twice in the past week.

Unfortunately I've been drunk for most of it, and have subsequently missed countless more opportunities to use it.

Regardless, thanks for the vocab-assistance!
